Vapour, Gurgaon: A Unique Stock Exchange-Themed Restaurant

An Informal Space for Bidding Wars and New Connections

The design of Vapour revolves around the idea of creating a visual connection among all guests, resembling a large gathering of people. The spacious interior, spread over 900 sqmt. on two levels, features a single volume design that allows for a seamless flow between different areas. The main visual character of the restaurant is the long bar counter with price screens, which is visible from all corners of the space.

The flooring of Vapour is done in vitrified tiles, while the walls are clad with fly ash bricks, maintaining their natural texture and finished with a coat of lacquer for hygiene purposes. The ceiling, left exposed with all services in its natural concrete finish, is adorned with graphic boards hung from the true slab. This combination of materials and finishes adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the restaurant.

Upon entering Vapour, guests are greeted by a double-height area that creates a sense of volume and grandeur. The bar counter, located next to the wall, stands as the focal point of this space, while the seating is cleverly placed under the normal height area to create a cozy dining experience. The restaurant also features two first-floor levels, each accessible via separate staircases originating from the same point, adding an element of intrigue and visual interest.

The design of Vapour presented several challenges, with the most significant being the need to maintain the large volume of the interior space while creating a non-imposing and airy atmosphere. By utilizing a high ceiling and carefully selected materials, Devesh Pratyay successfully achieved this goal, resulting in a visually stunning and inviting restaurant.
